The nekomata are regular cats that have transformed into yokai. They are usually seen walking on their hind legs and speaking human languages. They are similar to the bakeneko, but are far more malicious towards humans, and eat them. The end result of this transformation is one tail that is split down the middle into two. Like most yokai, they have supernatural powers. With their supernatural powers, they are able to control corpses. As said before, Nekomata look at humans with contempt, and therefore often blackmail or enslave humans to do their bidding. Nekomata that are large and have long tails are the most powerful.
The Okuri-inu is a nocturnal wolf or dog that haunts mountains and stalks travelers that happen to be traveling late at night. The Okuri-inu continues to trail closely behind travelers until they lose their footing, which is when they attack. Tricking an Okuri-inu is possible. When one is to lose their footing, they have to make it seem as if they were resting instead. With this, the Okuri-inu will wait. If the traveler is to make it out of the woods, to make the Okuri-inu never follow them again the traveler must turn around and say, "Thanks for seeing me off."
